Hartbeespoort Dam: a Band on Tour

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

Recently, my boyfriend and one of the bands that he manages drove from Cape Town to Johannesburg for a short tour and a competition show. As they were on a tight budget, they asked me to look for possible camping spots in the area. As it turns out, camping places in Johannesburg or Pretoria are few and far between and the ones that you do get, are the ones that cater to the high income market with luxury tents and room service in them. One place where the camping was actually quite affordable was the hartbeespoort dam lodges. They had both camping areas as well as hostel/dormitory style accommodation that fell into their budget for accommodation during the tour. The facilities also included swimming pools, a bar and restaurant, braai area and forest area, so the guys were quite chuffed to get reservations there. The venue also boasts good security in the form of guards and security cameras.

Those going for UK Family holidays in particular have found cottages to be a very affordable way of spending quality time with their families as they explore what the United Kingdom has on offer. For families taking an extended holiday in the UK, opting for self-catering cottages would not only help cut down on the cost of food and accommodation in the long run, but will also ensure the whole family gets to spend some quality time bonding. Tanzania – Mikumi National Park – Part III

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

We were discussing the African safari tours available in the great wilderness of Tanzania. Mikumi National park is the smallest National park in Tanzania and it offers the least area for safari. Nevertheless, the Mikumi National park is rich in wildlife and birds. As the area is so concentrated and densely covered in forest, you often see buffalo, elephant and lion. There are also wildebeests, zebras, impalas, warthogs, hippos, cheetahs and giraffes, which can be found in abundance at the centre of the National park.

Most of the animals can be seen near the Mikumi Lake at the centre of the park. The lake is at a short drive from Mikumi Wildlife Lodge which is maintained by the Tanzanian government. There is also a Hippo Pool near the Mikumi Wildlife Lodge. The elephants can be seen throughout the lake area and the buffaloes are found mostly on the treeless grasslands.

Are There Family-friendly Villas in the Bahamas?

Saturday, November 12th, 2011

The answer is a resounding YES! In fact, most groups that travel as a family prefer getting a whole villa to themselves, instead of getting multiple hotel rooms. A villa usually means you have your own kitchen and pool to you alone, so this gives you more privacy and more leg room to do your own thing. The down side is that some villas may not have the exact type of hotel room service that you want. Here are some things that you should consider when you are booking that luxury resorts bahamas room today: 1. Get a villa if you are more than 6 in your party. This might come off cheaper plus you can pool your resources together to get a really amazing villa. 2. Choose a villa that is either a beachfront one or has its own pool so that the kids can easily jump into the water. 3. Villas are no good if there’s no great view to enjoy after lunch or during sunset.

Fine Portugal Temperature

Saturday, August 20th, 2011

Trisha was planning to spend her vacation in Portugal. As a Spanish citizen, she wasn’t going to have far to travel. Even though the countries were adjacent to each other, she’d never visited Portugal. Each day she checked to see what the Portugal temperature was in her selected cities. One of the first destinations that Trisha had chosen was Lisbon. This city was known for its sunny skies and warm temperatures. She knew that she wanted to tour the city and view historic sites. Having good weather would make this process even more enjoyable. Some of the attractions Trisha would visit included the Tile National Museum.

She would find outdoor locations to explore as well. Parks and gardens were some of her favorite offerings. Trisha was planning to spend a few days of her trip at Casino Lisboa. This location was known for its gaming and other offerings. Booking her accommodation had been quite easy. Trisha’s sister, Shanna had spent her honeymoon at Tivoli Lisboa. So she would stay there for the bulk of her trip. Trisha would also be visiting the coastal city of Algarve.

Anyone else Like Rock Art?

Monday, July 25th, 2011

I am amazed at some of the quality of ancient rock art around the world in a variety of places. I have yet to see the famous rock art in France (though I hope to do so soon), but I have been able to see a few other installations around the world and I am almost always amazed at the quality of its preservation. In fact, one of the other things that really impresses me is just how extensive and excellent some of these pieces of art are in the first place. Just imagine it. This is art that was done up to 5,000 years ago, but when you look at them, most of them could be displayed in art galleries today. And the preservation of them over the centuries is something that constantly amazes me. Most of them are in caves, which obviously are locations that get damp and wet. How on Earth they look this good after that period of time is shocking, in my eyes.

Traveling to Spain

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

Are you going to Spain? Going with the car hire in Madrid service is one of the most intelligent things that you can do, especially if you plan on seeing the entire nation. If you have ever looked at a map, you will quickly realize that Spain is one of the larger nations in Europe, and for this reason, is very important to realize that also you are a little bit isolated from the rest of Europe. If you want to make sure that you see every square inch of Spain, then you are definitely going to need to do a little bit of private tracking. The best way to do something like this is almost definitely with a rental car. You cannot ask a taxi To go every single inch of the nation, not only because they have their own jurisdictions, but they also are far more expensive. Just go ahead and travel to Spain in a car that you have rented, it will definitely be worth the money in the long run.

Camping on the Isle of Wight

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

There is nothing quite like being out in the open and enjoying all that the element care to throw at you. This is the reality of camping in the UK. But this is what I really like about camping in this country – the unpredictability of our weather. It is you against the elements – man against nature, with nature nearly always coming out on top. But if you are intending on camping this year, consider Isle of Wight camping as a potential place to pitch your tent or park your motor home. The Isle of Wight, situated off the coast of southern England is just the right place to go to be in-touch with nature. In the summer the Island place host to a number of different festivals such as The Isle of Wight Festival and Bestival, where you can enjoy the music and have great fun camping under the stars.

Americans Love Costa Rica Vacationing

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

Costa Rica vacations are a popular choice among Americans. And now, there are also many Americans buying property and moving to this wonderful country. Land is still moderately priced, and the fact that Costa Rica is an eco-tourist does not go unnoticed to those “green” Americans. Not only are these vacations one of idleness at the beach, they are one of exploring the many national parks and volcanoes to better understand the ecology in this small but diverse Central American land. I am sure the feeling that so many travelers get while traveling around the rain forests, the capital city of San Jose or the beaches is one that feels like home, as it keeps tourists coming here again and again. The people are friendly and outgoing, and comfort is what makes travel more likeable for many Americans. I guess the natives are right when they you can’t resist “Pura Vida”, the pure life!

Laugh out Loud @ the Mirage

Saturday, May 28th, 2011

I once heard an old friend of my father remark, Laughing is a medicine that many busy lives will never take, I instantly got the point of my fathers friend and I have carried this till this day. So when I got to Mirage Hotel Las Vegas for the first time did a little asking around and found out that there was a comedy show at the hotel. Boy! What a relief it was for me. I quickly got six tickets for fiance and I for the three nights we were going to spend in this hotel. Aces Of Comedy, that was the title of the show, on the first night it did not meet my expectations or I probably didnt pay attention to what was been done on the stage. However my whole opinion about the comedy at the Mirage changes on the second and third nights. They were awesome; I laughed and laughed and laughed till my lungs couldn’t take it any longer. My fiance had similar problems and we had to take several breaks to catch some air outside before returning to watch the rest of the show. There is no doubt my returning to Mirage, I plan to have my honeymoon there and the Aces Of Comedy will be my bedroom.

Things to Consider when Booking a Hostel

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

There are hostels available for every price range, if you are willing to give up a few things. Taking the time to go through all the hostel booking sites online can seem quite tedious. However when you get to wherever you are travelling, and you find out the accommodations you have booked do not include a private bathroom for you to have a shower in, you might be a little bit upset. Take the time to read other peoples comments as well, finding somewhere clean to sleep is most peoples priority, and you will easily be able to sort through to see which ones are not going to work.

You may also find that diamond in the rough while looking. The hostel that everyone raves about the great service might also include breakfast. The location might be the treasure as well, staying next door to a museum or art gallery might be just what you’ve been waiting for.
